The Executive Director, Technical Services, Food Production Animal Business Unit will report to the Associate Vice President (AVP) of the US Food Production Animal (FPA) business unit and will be a member of the US FPA Leadership Team. The incumbent will manage and lead the cattle, swine and poultry species Technical Services (TS) and Pharmacovigilence (PV) teams and respective budgets. He/She will be the lead US FPA science collaborator to interface with the Animal Health (AH) Research & Development, Manufacturing, Business Development, Global Food Animal Marketing and Technical teams to ensure the timely development, approval, commercialization and delivery of products across cattle, swine and poultry. Paramount to this role is an individual who excels at coaching, mentoring and developing team members to achieve the highest performance and build talent to their highest potential.




  • Serves as a member of the US FPA Leadership Team, providing input to the strategic direction of the business


  • Works with FPA Leadership and Finance to establish operating plan and budget. Allocate and direct utilization of resources to ensure funds are invested appropriately to meet company goals


  • Leads the development and execution of business plans for divisional and cross-divisional projects


  • Leads, manages and develops team members to maximize performance, participate in the recruitment and selection of industry-leading talent to build a high performing team


  • Utilizes significant depth of knowledge and experience in FPA as well as broad knowledge of veterinary medicine and FPA science to assist in the development of the short, mid and long term strategy


  • Collaborate with Companion Animal/Equine TS and PV Directors to assist coordination and management of the US Commercial TS team


  • Regularly interfaces and collaborates with US FPA cross-species marketing and sales leads


  • Strong collaboration skills and ability to successfully partner cross-functionally with all business units; Regulatory, Legal, R&D, Manufacturing, Global Marketing and Business Development colleagues


  • Participates as a scientific speaker on the agenda of key FPA industry meetings by communicating strategic, scientific research


  • Responsible for ongoing surveillance and reporting of relevant Food Animal science and products in the national and global marketplace


  • Obtains valuable real-world information and insight through various channels, networking and customer interactions to strategically prioritize product development and market support study (MSS) execution


  • Oversees, mentors, trains and supports a team of TS and PV colleagues to successfully resolve customer product implementation issues, product complaints and adverse events associated with the FPA product portfolios with practicing veterinarians and producers


  • The travel requirements for this position are a minimum 50% of the time. Travel responsibilities will be prioritized by project value and primarily domestic. There may be 2-3 international travel trips.
Qualifications

Education Requirement:




  • Must have MBA or Master’s degree in a Business related or Animal Science field or Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (D.V.M) degree or equivalent Doctoral degree (Ph.D.) in a related Animal Science field

Required:




  • At least 10 years’ experience in the Animal Health industry or a combination of 10 years of Animal Health industry experience with research or teaching experience in an accredited university setting


  • At least 5 years of people management experience


  • Strategically minded and visionary thinker


  • Business minded acumen with science and technical balance


  • Ability to collaborate and influence across multiple internal and external stakeholders


  • Dynamic and effective written and verbal communicator, including highly effective presentation skills


  • Strong business acumen and project management to effectively manage assigned budgets and timelines


  • Ability to draw appropriate and scientifically balanced conclusions from reports/data and analyses to support product recommendations


  • Plan and coordinate strategic project activities, collaborating with other stakeholders to maximize team results


  • Understanding of customers’ and stakeholders’ needs, requirements and expectations in order to continuously seek new ways to improve the delivery of products and services


  • Skilled at developing strong networks and relationships across functions and other organizational boundaries


  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
