SALAR employees evaluate Lead Op candidates and preclinical toxicityof drug development candidates, provide mechanistic understanding ofdrug-induced toxicity, and assess implications for human safety. SALAR provides collaborative research inanimal model development, veterinary medical and animal care, and research facilitymanagement. Safety Assessment also responds to regulatory questions in supportof drug registration. Intern project summary:
Theintern will work on one or more small projects and/or experiments that willleverage state-of-the-art LC-MS technology for metabolomic application intoxicology. The projects will require touse Thermofisher LC-MS instruments and software Compound Discoverer to processmetabolomic profiling data. Day-to-dayactivities will likely include tasks that require sample preparation (plasma, urine, tissues), sample analysis using LC-MS platform, data analysis andbiochemical pathway analysis with afocus on metabolic changes due to antibiotic dosing in rats. Good understanding of biochemical pathway(esp. gut microbiome) and some experience with computer database building(small molecular metabolite database) will be a plus.
