The Merck Neuroscience team isseeking motivated and technically skilled students majoring in the Biological sciencesor pharmacy. The student should havestrong interest in neuroscience and learning about CNS drug discovery. Successful candidates will be able to workindependently, and will be expected to proactively collaborate withcolleagues. Primary responsibilitiesinclude contributing to the execution of in vitro experiments includingestablishing in vitro cell-based model systems, development of immunoassays andperforming biochemical and immunohistochemical analysis of tissues to supportthe identification and validation of novel targets to treat CNS diseases. Thecandidate will be an active participant in the positive and critical scientificdialogue that supports our mission of target identification and validation.
The responsibilities of the EarlyDiscovery Neuroscience team member include:
- Design,execute, interpret and report in vitro experiments.
- Assistin developing, executing, and troubleshooting new cell assays, protocols andimaging methods.
- Supportcharacterization and validation of antibody activity in cell based and in vivomodels.
- Communicate data clearly and concisely to teams and stakeholders.
- Monitor,review and critically interpret published work to guide their research.
- Collaboratewith members from other functional areas, including medicinal chemistry, invivo and in vitro pharmacology and genetics.
