The Sr. Specialist,Account Management role will support the current business needs of theIntegrated Account Management organization while gaining experience withexternal customers and internal partners/stakeholders within Merck. Within Merck, the P3 role will have significant interaction with fieldbased Account Executives and Directors, Brand and Payer Marketing, Legal,Finance and Distribution.  This role will join a team responsible for oneof the following areas: National Health Plan and Pharmacy Benefit Management(PBM) Account Management & Contracting or National Purchase-Based AccountManagement & Contracting.  This role will be responsible for buildingtrust and credibility with their assigned customers through stronginterpersonal relationships, in depth knowledge of the customer's organization,objectives, and business and environmental issues impacting the customer, andin depth knowledge of the same for Merck.  

 

Primary responsibilitiesinclude and are not limited to the following:

  • Collaborate with CustomerManager, Account Executive or National Account Director to manage thebusiness relationship between Merck and assigned accounts. 
  • Develop strategic/tacticalaccount plans for assigned accounts.  Objectives include thenegotiation and implementation of contracting priorities, achievement ofprofitable formulary status for Merck products, evaluation of accountperformance and broader segment trends to optimize net sale for Merck. 
  • Assists with the developmentand analysis of customer and product-specific business modeling, ROI andforecasts that help achieve optimal net sales.  This role may betasked with:
  • Producing the quarterlydiscount accrual forecast which informs the annual profit plan and 5yrLROP in coordination with the Customer Manager team, Finance andBrand/Payer Marketing.
  • Providing insight into theperformance of Merck discount programs and contracts that are availablein the market.  This would include the analysis of market trends, potentialnew product entrants, competitor positioning, customer enrollments andperformance.  
  • Conduct Deal / No Deal analysisfor new potential discount programs.
  • Complete Ad-hoc modelinginitiatives that will add business insight within the assigned segments. 
  • Provide oversight and controlto contracting process through collaboration with team of establishedCustomer Managers, legal and finance partners.  Tasked withcollaborating with the team and stakeholders to improve the efficiency ofprocess and quality control of our contract executions, amendments,notices and program adjustments.
  • Provide oversight and controlto the communication stream between the contracting team and the fieldbased Account Executives.  Tasked with ensuring compliant, expedientand proactive communication of information to our field teams aroundcontract updates, product availability and contracting strategies, fieldteam initiatives, etc.  
  • This role will ensure that allcommunication is presented according to Policy, with the review andapproval of our Compliance and Legal partners.
  • This position alsoincludes acceptance to the Accelerated Development Program whichfocuses on broadening business acumen through business unit rotations inaccount management, finance, commercial analytics, contracting andmarketing. 

     

    Qualifications

    Education: 

    • Currently enrolled in a program leading to a Master in Business Administration with a Graduate date of June 2018


    Required Experience:

    • A minimum of 1 plus years of professional work/internship experience


    Preferred Experience:

    • Account management experience
    • Marketing experience 
    • Healthcare experience
