Post-doc Position - Regulation of Dendritic Cell Function - Antigen Presentation

The laboratory of Dr. Julie Magarian Blander at Weill Cornell is seeking post-doctoral candidates to study the regulatory pathways of antigen presentation in murine and human dendritic cells. The laboratory has previously found that major histocompatibility complex class I (MHC-I) molecules reside in special compartments within dendritic cells, and their trafficking from these compartments to sites of microbial antigen is regulated by Toll-like receptors (TLRs). Please refer to our most recent work on this topic.

Specific projects include:

  1. Delineation of the membrane trafficking pathways and TLR signals involved in regulation of endocytic antigen cross-presentation. Defining the impact of the intestinal commensal microbiota on antigen presentation within intestinal dendritic cells. Characterization of a new cross-presentation pathway that functions independently of the transporter for antigen processing (TAP).

A PhD or equivalent in Immunology or Cell Biology is required. Relevant backgrounds include signal transduction, vesicular and membrane traffic, myeloid cell biology, antigen presentation. Technical expertise in two or more of the following is highly desirable: multi-parameter flow cytometry, protein and/or nucleic acid biochemistry, genetic modifications of cells, live cell imaging and confocal/high resolution fluorescence microscopy.

If you are interested, please send a cover letter describing your research background, interests and career goals, as well as a CV and contact information of three references to Dr. Blander (jmblander@med.cornell.edu).
