Vice Dean, School of the Coastal Environment The College of Science at Coastal Carolina University invites applications for a tenured Professor appointment as Vice Dean, School of the Coastal Environment to begin July 2018. The School of the Coastal Environment resides in the College of Science and includes the Department of Marine Science offering a B.S. degree, the Department of Coastal and Marine Systems Science offering M.S. and Ph.D. degrees, and the Burroughs and Chapin Center for Marine and Wetland Studies offering research support services and community outreach. The Vice Dean reports to the Dean of the College of Science. The School enrolls nearly 1000 undergraduate and 40 graduate students. A Ph.D. in marine science or related field is required with a record demonstrating significant administrative experience, scholarship, grant funding, and teaching excellence at the university level. Duties include coordinating faculty and support personnel within the School and promoting the continued development of marine field and laboratory facilities. Responsibilities also include supporting current, and developing new, high-quality academic programs that incorporate innovative marine science pedagogy. The ideal candidate should have experience integrating personnel, budgets, and facilities to enhance program delivery and development, research productivity, and community engagement. The University is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools to award the baccalaureate and selective master’s degrees of national and/or regional significance in the arts and sciences, business, humanities, education and health and human services, a specialist degree in educational leadership and a PhD in Marine Science.
