Tenured Professor or Associate Professor or tenure/track Assistant Professor Positions
Faculty position in Physics
Ashoka University has launched its Natural Sciences program starting with Physics and Biology in the current academic year, 2017-2018. In this context, the Department of Physics at Ashoka University seeks to recruit about six faculty members over the next two years. In the first round, we invite applications for two tenured Professor or Associate Professor or tenure/track Assistant Professor positions with an expected start date of January, 2018. We are open to outstanding candidates in any field, but are particularly interested in candidates whose work is in the areas of (1) observational and theoretical Cosmology and Astrophysics, and (2) theoretical and experimental areas of Soft Matter, Complex Systems and Biology-related physics. A Ph.D. is required and post-doctoral experience is desirable.
The teaching responsibility for each member of the faculty is two courses per semester. Appointees would be provided substantial research support in the form of start-up grants and sabbaticals. The University encourages members of the faculty to apply for extramural grants for which logistical support will be provided.
Ashoka University strongly encourages applications by women and members of other groups under-represented in academia.
Applicants should submit: 1) a letter of interest; 2) a curriculum vitae; 3) teaching statement; 4) a brief description of research interest; 6) names of three referees who can be contacted for letters of recommendation.
All materials should be submitted through: https://www.ashoka.edu.in/facultypositions/
