An exciting opportunity exists for a post-doctoral researcher to work on the CAOS Smart Camera, a new emerging camera technology. The CAOS Smart Camera project is an Enterprise Ireland-EU funded project focused on designing and experimentally demonstrating a working prototype of the CAOS optical camera for automotive applications. The successful applicant will be a creative, experimental hands-on design and development researcher. The applicant will play a leading role in the project and is expected to have a high level of initiative to drive the project and meet project deliverables. The preferred applicant will have demonstrated expertise (theoretical and hardware) in computer vision, image processing, pattern recognition, and machine learning techniques needed to program the CAOS smart camera hardware electronics using languages such as C, C++, Visual Basic, MATLAB and others. Experience with coding theory and communications theory would be desirable. The applicant should have a PhD degree in computer science/electrical/computer/electronic engineering. The initial appointment is at the appropriate qualification level (Post-doc) and is for 18 months that can be extended for an additional 6 months based on project milestone progress.
