We are inviting applications for a researcher (post-doctoral) position in advanced fuels development.


You will be developing theoretical knowledge and computational models to understand direct conversion of CO2 to liquid fuels, for example, ethanol and methanol. You will be building simulation tools and prototype designs to develop the process for direct conversion of CO2 to liquid fuels. Strong programming skills using Python / Matlab / other computational tools will be of a good asset, but not mandatory. This position demands a good understanding of chemistry, process technology, and material science of fuels. Prior experience working in laboratory is expected. We are looking for a quick learner and doer who has a passion for excellence in research and development. The work contract will be directly under VEBIC and you will be reporting to the Director of VEBIC. Further information:


You have a suitable high-grade doctoral degree in chemistry, material science, computational chemistry, engineering or other related areas. You have strong experience in setting up laboratory experiments and hands-on experience through earlier projects. You have the ability to build things and work in a research laboratory. You need to develop and submit project proposals attracting new funding opportunities. The supervision of theses is also included in your tasks. Strong written & spoken English language skills are mandatory.


The salary will be based on both the job demands and the employee's personal performance in accordance with the University Salary System. According to the criteria applied to teaching and research staff, this position is placed on the job demand levels 5-6.


This is a fixed term position for two years. The position will start at an earliest possible date mutually agreed between both parties.

Trial period of four months applies.
