Project researcher (Ph.D Student) in Advanced Fuels Development

We are inviting applications for a project research position in advanced fuels development.
You will be part of the team developing theoretical knowledge and computational models to understand direct conversion of CO2 to liquid fuels, for example, ethanol and methanol. You will be building simulation tools and prototype designs to develop the process for direct conversion of CO2 to liquid fuels. Strong programming skills using Python / Matlab / other computational tools will be of a good asset, but not mandatory. This position demands a good understanding of chemistry, process technology, and material science of fuels. Prior experience working in laboratory is expected. We are looking for a quick learner and doer who has a passion for excellence in research and development. The work contract will be under VEBIC and the doctoral degree will be through the University of Vaasa, Faculty of Technology. You will be reporting to the Director of VEBIC. You have master degree in chemistry, material science, computational chemistry, engineering or other related areas. You have experience in setting up laboratory experiments and hands-on experience through earlier projects. You have the ability to build things and work in a research laboratory. Strong written & spoken English language skills are mandatory. You will be continuously supporting the development of various project proposals attracting new funding opportunities. The support in supervision of theses is also included in your tasks. Strong written & spoken English language skills are mandatory.
The salary will be based on both the job demands and the employee's personal performance in accordance with the University Salary System. According to the criteria applied to teaching and research staff this position is placed on the job demands levels 2-4. The position is planned for a fixed term of 2 years.
Trial period of four months applies.
The candidate is expected to start in November 2017, or at the earliest possible date mutually agreed between both parties.
