Project researcher (Ph.D Student) in Advanced Renewable (terahertz) Energy Harvesting

We are inviting applications for a project research position in advanced renewable (terahertz) energy harvesting.
You will be building simulation models and testing prototype designs for terahertz energy harvesting. Strong knowledge and knowhow in computational electromagnetics with good programming skills in Matlab / Python / Fortran are mandatory. This position demands a good understanding both the physics and engineering dimensions of terahertz energy harvesting. Prior experience in modelling and simulation using custom-made solvers are expected. We are looking for a quick learner and doer who has a passion for excellence in research and development. You have master degree in physics, applied physics, mathematics or computational science with a strong emphasis on electromagnetics or related fields. You have studied or worked in one or many of the following topics: microwave engineering, optics, high frequency electromagnetics, nano-optics. You have hands-on experience through projects and have the ability to build things and work in a research laboratory. You will be continuously supporting the development of various project proposals attracting new funding opportunities. The support in supervision of theses is also included in your tasks. Strong written & spoken English language skills are mandatory.
The salary will be based on both the job demands and the employee's personal performance in accordance with the University Salary System. According to the criteria applied to teaching and research staff this position is placed on the job demands levels 2-4. The position is planned for a fixed term of 2 years.
Trial period of four months applies.
The candidate is expected to start in November 2017, or at earliest possible date mutually agreed between both parties.
