The activity aims at evaluating the influence of the elastic deformation during mounting on the lubrication behaviour of the mating surfaces in a big-end bearing of a connecting rod. Several Finite Element models will be prepared in order to evaluate the mechanical and thermal deformations of the components involved. In particular, two different connecting rods will be investigated manufactured with two different materials (steel, titanium). The following governing parameters will be also investigated:
1. Influence of the bolt pre-load adopted during the big-end machining;
2. Influence of the bolt pre-load adopted during bearing mounting;
3. Influence of the bearing geometry (crush).
