“Multimedia signal processing for distance learning in music teaching”
The specific goals of the research program concern the development of multimodal signal processing and transmission (typically audio/acoustic signals, as well as images) for remote musical teaching.
The first phase of the work consists of the analysis of the existing technologies and software platforms for applications of distance learning, as well as the various remote interaction modalities for applications of musical teaching. One goal will be to study the influence of multimedia stream quality and the environment acoustics; the degree of immersivity; and the responsivity of the system. As part of the planned activities, research effort will be put into developing compensative solutions for applications of remote musical teaching, including for Networked Music Performance.
