PhD student Single-atom diamond quantum probe: Proof-of-principle molecular engineering methodology
Within the research groups 'Photonics & Quantum Lab' and 'Nanostructure Physics' the possibility exists to start an experimental doctorate in the field of quantum detection for single molecule detection for physical, chemical and biological applications.
Operational quantum principles introduce a new philosophy in detecting objects on the atomic scale by offering a non-invasive interaction platform. These principles will be used for quantum imaging of atomic or molecular objects by applying correlations between spin sensors based on NV colour centers in diamond.
The candidate will develop nanodiamond spin probes through nanoscale pattern formation based on plasma-based methods that process the colour centers into small diamond precursors (so-called diamondoids). State-of-the-art analysis techniques are available for this purpose.
