In recent decades, the concept of "Urban Metabolism" as the sum of trade in a city (incoming and

outgoing) has been increasingly associated with issues of strategic planning. Urban Metabolism has

stimulated a new way of seeing and thinking urban sustainability and resilience, there is the need to

understand the relationship between resource flows and city spatial structures, management and

development policies.

The issue of flows is linked to "waste" as a flow of material, which as input has an intrinsic quality for the

development of the city, but as output has lost this quality and it is so far removed.

This research is based on the project "Urban_Wins", a project that aimed at studying a local and largescale

strategic planning model, able to take into account the inputs from the study of urban metabolism

for a "zero waste".
