University Lecturer in Health Sciences, focusing on rehabilitation in neurodegenerative diseases
Employment as a university lecturer in health sciences with placement at the Department of Health Sciences in Lund. The employment can be set up as a joint employment, in cooperation with the Region Skåne.
The assignments is a full time position with 70 % of research and participation in research level (i.e., graduate) education in the multidisciplinary, translational research environment MultiPark. The remaining 30 % of the job requires involvement in the faculty's education programs at basic and advanced level and/or administrative or management assignments, with accompanying funding. The holder of the employment is expected to contribute to the long-term development of research and education at the research level in health sciences, focusing on rehabilitation in neurodegenerative diseases at Lund University, as well as nationally and internationally. Research funding and participation in postgraduate education is guaranteed until 2020. The intention is that this funding should continue, provided such funds are made available. Continuous involvement in applications for external research funds, to both local/regional, national and international financiers, is an important part of the tasks in order to ensure long-term financing of the employment. The holder of the employment is expected to contribute to recruitment of additional researchers in the subject area. Communication of research results and interaction with the surrounding community also constitute very important parts of the work. Other tasks may also be included.
Chapter 4, Section 4 of the Higher Education Ordinance states that a person shall be qualified for appointment as University Lecturer if he/she has demonstrated teaching expertise and been awarded a PhD or has corresponding research competence or other professional skills relevant to the content of the employment and the duties that are to be included in the employment. According to Lund University's employment regulations the applicant must have completed university education in at least five weeks or otherwise obtained equivalent knowledge to be eligible. If there are special reasons, those who do not have five weeks of such education may still be considered eligible. The holder of the employment must be a registered health care professional, preferably a reg. occupational therapist or reg. physiotherapist. Holder from abroad with such professional degree is expected to acquire a registration to practice in Sweden within the first three years of the employment.
Basis for assessment
The applicant should have demonstrated scientific and pedagogical proficiency relevant to health sciences, focusing on rehabilitation in neurodegenerative diseases - such as Parkinson's disease. Very good knowledge of English is a requirement. Holder of employment who do not master a Scandinavian language in speech and writing is expected to acquire good knowledge of Swedish as soon as possible. The holder must have good prospects for long-term commitment to the development of research and education at the research level in the subject area, both at Lund University, nationally and internationally. When assessing the applicants, particular attention will be paid to the scientific skill and the future development potential. The holder must be well acquainted with national and international health science research in the field of rehabilitation in neurodegenerative diseases. Broad methodological experience with documented application in the subject area is meritorious.
Experience in international research collaboration is a prerequisite. The holder must have documented clinical rehabilitation experience. Experience from leadership assignments is meritorious. In terms of pedagogical proficiency, experience from academic education on basic, advanced and research (i.e., graduate) level is required. Particular emphasis will be placed on proven skill in terms of education at the research level. Documented experience of successful supervision of doctoral students is a requirement; experience as a principal supervisor is meritorious. In addition, supervision of postdoctoral fellows is meritorious. For the job, documented experience and skill is also needed in terms of cooperation with the surrounding community. For teachers at Lund University, as a general qualification requirement, it is appropriate to have the necessary skills to perform the tasks well.
