Position Summary:

The Service Engineer will own and be responsible for the installation, maintenance, repair and troubleshooting of liquid chromatography and mass spectrometry Clinical analyzer platforms at the Fremont CA site. As an member of the Fremont Service team, this person will be based at our Fremont, CA facility and will report to the local Service manager. This person will actively work with the local Service and Support team to ensure maximum instrument uptime and availability of the analyzers onsite.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform installation, repair, maintenance and troubleshooting of liquid chromatography and mass spectrometry Clinical analyzer platforms
  • Creating and maintaining an onsite spare part inventory of frequently used parts to ensure quick repairs and maximum uptime
  • Maintaining documentation of maintenance, repairs and keeping up-to-date the repair logs and relevant technical databases
  • Analyzes review and inspection findings to determine source of problem, and recommends repair, replacement, or other corrective action
  • Coordinates problem resolution with technical service and support teams to expedite repairs
  • Other duties may be assigned


Education and/or Experience requirements:

  • BS degree in Engineering, Science (electrical or mechanical) or equivalent combination of education and experience to perform at this level.
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in servicing analytical measurement equipment or equivalent instrumentation
  • Understanding and experience of liquid chromatography and mass spectrometry instrumentation and software is a strong plus.
  • Ability to prioritize service requests and produce clear and concise documentation.
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot and resolve problems on sophisticated electronic and mechanical instrumentation.
  • Able to travel for periodic trainings (est. 10%) to other areas, including international.
  • Ability to safely lift 50 Lbs with assistance on occasion.
  • Must be able to work extended hours when required.
