Magee-Womens Research Institute and the University of Pittsburgh’s Department of Obstetrics/Gynecology and Reproductive Sciences are seeking an outstanding scientist in the area of ovarian biology

The position targets applicants conducting cutting-edge basic or translational research in areas such as ovarian development, physiology, cell signaling, the impact of the micro- and macro-environment on these processes, and their contribution to ovarian aging and premature menopause, hormonal dysfunction, cell proliferation, endometriosis and reproductive regenerative medicine. Applications from candidates utilizing rodent models and advanced genomic approaches are highly encouraged.

The selected candidate will join nearly 35 principal investigators at the internationally recognized Magee-Womens Research Institute, one of the largest institutes dedicated entirely to reproductive biology, women’s and infants’ health. Research at the Institute centers on mechanisms of development, pregnancy, genital infections, female and male fertility, gynecology, pelvic floor health, female cancer, and wellness. Intense translational and clinical research bridges basic advances to mechanistic, diagnostic and therapeutic approaches for clinical applications. The modern facility spans 120,000 sq ft of state-of-the-art laboratories, core facilities, and animal research units, all supported by skilled staff.

Candidates must have a PhD and/or MD degree (or equivalent), at least three years of postdoctoral training, demonstrate outstanding research productivity, and are expected to establish a competitive, independently-funded research program. The successful applicant will be expected to work in a cross-disciplinary, collaborative environment, to participate in scholarly activities, and to teach graduate, post-graduate and medical trainees. The selected candidate will hold a tenure track academic appointment (Assistant or Associate Professor) at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine, and will receive a competitive start-up package, salary and faculty benefits.
