The main goal of the project is the experimental investigation of an innovative series of fan-coils based on compact air-water heat exchangers in which metallic foams are used on the air side. The increased thermal performances can enable the reduction of the external dimensions of the fan-coils as well as the reduction of the inlet water temperature during the winter. By means of a series of numerical simulations the experimental results obtained during the project will be used in order to put in evidence in which conditions the innovative fan-coils can improve the energy performance of a HVAC system. The project needs the capability to model the terminals of the HVAC systems by means of dynamic software (i.e. SIMULINK, TRNSYS, ESP-r, Energy Plus). It is required the capability to customize the classical Types of TRNSYS for the modeling of innovative fan-coils.
