In the field of the biological/biomedical research the possibility to adopt sensorized systems for monitoring
chemical/physical properties of biological cultures has recently gained interest. In this context the proposed
activity aims to contribute with the design, development and characterization of tailored acoustic-wave
sensors. Acoustic-wave sensors are characterized by adequate sensitivity and signal-to noise ratio for
biological/biomedical applications. In addition they allow for the development of unobtrusive systems by
means of device miniaturization and the adoption of contactless interrogation techniques.
The activity of the collaborator will be specifically dedicated to the development of acoustic-wave transducers
based on piezoelectric substrates and using both traditional approaches and microsystem technologies.
