The activity will be focused on the preparation of metal oxides nanowires and heterojunctions, and the
characterization of their morphological, structural and functional properties for sensing applications. The
nanostructures will be mainly prepared by means of evaporation and condensation, sputtering and thermal
Prepared materials will be characterized from morphological point-of-view thanks to electron microscopy,
confirm the morphology of the nanostructures. Moreover, materials will be characterized by using
spectroscopic techniques, to verify the reproducibility of the growth process and materials crystallinity.
Sensors will be prepared and functionally characterized by volt-amperometric techniques, in order to study
the properties of the metal-semiconductor junction, including the electrical properties in a controlled
atmosphere by introducing a known concentration of gas and studying the effects of interfering gases.
