We investigate alternative indexes of energy affordability and energy poverty, defining suitable Headcount and Poverty Gap indexes. We consider the use of actual energy expenditure rather than the cost of a minimum reference amount, as well as alternative definitions of residual income and their use in multidimensional deprivation indexes. We use data from ISTAT Family Expenditure Survey and EU-SILC, together with the Bank of Italy Survey on Household Income and Wealth. The research fellow will be in charge of the management of the aforementioned datasets, the coding (in Stata and/or R) of the variables, the probabilistic matching between records, the simulation of the ISEE indicator and estimation of energy poverty.
