We are seeking a highly qualified postdoctoral fellow to conduct innovative research on the genetic and epigenetic control of DNA replication, in the model eukaryote, Tetrahymena thermophila. These studies will be performed in the laboratory of Dr. Geoffrey Kapler, Department of Molecular and Cellular Medicine. The successful applicant will assume a leadership role in pursuit of one of three lines of investigation: (1) genome-wide mapping of replication initiation sites and functional characterization of differentially regulated replication origins; (2) biochemical and molecular characterization of genetic and epigenetic mechanisms that control replication origin licensing, and (3) elucidation of the role of non-coding RNAs in the regulation of DNA replication.  This position will provide opportunities to learn and apply state-of-the-art high throughput (DNA-Seq, RNA-Seq) and reverse genetic (CRISPR/CAS9) methodologies.  Postdoctoral researchers will have opportunities to attend international conferences, and participate in writing workshops and other career development programs in preparation for a leadership role in academia or industry.

Qualifications: Ph.D. in Genetics, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry or a closely related field.  Preferred experience in biochemical, genetic and analysis of epigenetic histone modifications, DNA binding proteins or RNA biology.  Applicants should have a strong publication record, including first authorships. Prior experience mentoring graduate and undergraduate students is highly preferred. Salary commensurate with experience, in accordance with NIH postdoctoral salary recommendations (
