Cannabinoids represent an interesting hot subject of the scientific research. The aim of this project is the study of the genomic instability and the cytotoxicity occurring in both normal and tumoral human cells, to understand the role of cannabinoids in the reduction and/or prevention of two very important degenerative processes: cancer and aging. In order to achieve these goals, different useful research tools and techniques could be apply such as MTT assay and CASY for the cell viability, and the Single Cell Gell Electrophoresis assay (SCGE), the determination of the formation of oxidized DNA bases and gammaH2A assay as well as the micronucleus experiments performed with cytochalasine B, for the study of the genomic instability. The evaluation of necrosis and apoptosis and the monitoring of other additional cellular parameters (nuclear buds, nuclear bridges) could be of great interest
