As a Network Analyst at Merck’s Austin IT HUB, you will be part of inventing tomorrow. Our Innovative centers are where great people come together and deliver solutions that save and improve lives.

We are seeking a talented and energetic network analyst to support our large global network for Merck & Co., Inc. You will have the opportunity to work on global teams to identify and tackle the biggest opportunities and challenges at the intersection of healthcare, information and technology.

The selected candidate will have the opportunity to work on complex problems locally, regionally, and globally and work with team members and customers across the globe. He/She will work closely with network engineering and various IT team members across multiple disciplines. The candidate will work in a network operational role, under the supervision of network operations and engineering leads in support of our corporate initiatives.

The candidate will work on projects both large and small and have accountability for their success. As part of our network operations team, the position requires a network analyst to install, maintain, replace, repair, and support a variety of networking devices. Depending on the assignment, the candidate may be assigned to work on data networking devices or within our firewall and perimeter space. The data networking area would include Cisco switches, routers, wireless controllers, WAAS devices, DNS and similar technologies, to name a few. The perimeter area includes Cisco ASA firewalls, Radius, Juniper and related perimeter infrastructure. The specific work assignments will vary as individual skills, business needs, and work requirements allow.

Occasional travel will be required to sites within Eastern Pennsylvania and central New Jersey to work meet and work with team members. There may be a need to travel occasionally to other sites and IT hubs internationally.



Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Mathematics, similarly technical major, or completion of advanced IT technical training program(s).

Industry recognized certifications such as CISSP, CCNA/CCNP/CCIE

Formal training or solid conceptual knowledge of
o Cisco IOS switching and their protocols
o Wide Area Network protocols and routers
o Wireless 802.11 and mobile devices
o Load balancing appliances and VIP configurations
o Cisco ASA firewalls & reverse proxies
o Cisco Service Manager (CSM)
o VPN solutions such as IPSec, GRE, SSL & Web Gateways
o Pulse (Juniper) Security gateways
o Federation, SAML, certificate authentication and Radius

Understanding of Federation, certificate authentication, and Radius authentication

The selected candidate will have excellent time management skills, be a self-starter, and able to set priorities according to business needs with minimal oversight.
