Assistant Professor Biology (Botanist) - Fall 2018

Responsibilities: Teach botany related courses (9 credits) each semester that fulfill the requirements for the Biology degree, Environmental Studies degree, as well as general education natural science requirements using traditional, hybrid and as pedagogically appropriate, online delivery methods. Courses include introductory level biology courses (Biol 110, Biol 127), as well as upper-level courses in plant taxonomy (Biol 414), and/or plant ecology (Biol 444). Teaching assignments may require teaching day, evening. Course descriptions may be viewed at Development of a research program and publication in high quality refereed journals is expected. The successful candidate should participate in professional organizations and in course, curriculum, and program development as well as advise students and provide career guidance. Involvement in campus, university, and community service activities is expected. Qualifications: Ph.D. in Biology (or related field) with specialization in botany/plant biology/plant ecology). Evidence of potential in research and publication is anticipated. Commitment to high-quality instruction in a student-centered environment is expected. Interest in directing undergraduate research is an advantage. Prior college-level and online teaching experience preferred. Enthusiasm for working in a multidisciplinary environment is important.
