Soil Microbial Ecologist: Interactions and communication

The Soil and Water Sciences Department of the University of Florida offers a tenure track position for a Soil Microbial Ecologist with a research focus on characterization of interactions and communication among prokaryotes, and between prokaryotes and eukaryotes, in the soil. Interactions involving microorganisms are critical to the structure and function of natural microbial communities, and are essential to such disparate functions as rhizosphere processes, biodegradation, and biogeochemical cycling. Of particular interest are the factors that control the assembly and non-plant pathogenic activities between microorganisms, including prokaryotes and fungi, and agronomic or forest roots. Also of interest are those factors that coordinate the activities among microorganisms to affect critical ecosystem processes such as greenhouse gas production and biotransformation of contaminants, and the persistence of human pathogens.  More information can be found at: https://jobs.ufl.edu
