After a long period of expansion, modern representative democracy is now facing the problems of increasingly dissatisfied societies within the context of a globalized world. This crisis of legitimacy has led scholars to deal with democratic innovation. Research has so far developed along three distinct lines:1) the improvement of traditional institutions' performance (electoral and institutional engineering, primaries,referendums,etc);2)the promotion of deliberative democracy (citizens' juries, mini-publics,towns meetings,etc);3)the use of shared decision making processes with public authorities and stakeholders (co-governance). The research fellow is required to present and develop an original research project connected with one of these three lines. The research fellow will also be committed to disseminate the research's results through the submission of at least one article to scientific journals of either national or international relevance.
