Job Description

Essential Functions:

  • Assists in organizing the staff and workload to meet or exceed productivity performance standards for Unity Lab Services. Provides functional supervision to team members by performing site coverage as needed. May ssist in the cross training of associates and the training of new hires.
  • Under the direction of the Site Supervisor or Site Manager:
    • Facilitates and directs team meetings
    • Identifies training and site service personnel skills enhancement opportunities and reports to the supervisor.
    • Assist with time card review and approval.
    • Assists with preparing performance appraisals for site personnel.
    • Reviews site employee errors and trains/coaches so potential errors are eliminated.
    • Provides daily on-going training
    • Participate in project meetings
  • Directs the workflow of the team in support of contractual obligations and in line with established best practices.
  • Acts as subject matter expert to answer employee and customer questions and resolve problems. Expertise should include:
    • Knowledge of customer service agreement, service level agreements and relevant systems
    • Work instructions
    • Standard Operating Procedures
    • Best Practices
  • Assists with data collection, report generation and site metric development in support of contractual obligations and best practice methodologies.
  • Embraces PPI methodologies.
  • Works effectively with a diverse cross functional team.
  • Performs daily duties of a Senior Site Specialist, Site Specialist or Site Technician.
  • Answer customer questions and responds to/resolves problems.
  • Meets with customers proactively to help determine ongoing needs. Informs site employees of special customer requirements, resolves problems and keeps employees informed of corrective action.
  • Provides technical support to customer and specialists regarding special systems, products or procedures.
  • Performs other duties as assigned
  • Support the Quality Management System by:
    • Development, maintenance and full adherence to departmental work instructions, standard operating procedures (SOP's) in fulfillment of the requirements of our Quality Management System and the expectations of our interested parties (internal / external).
    • Identify and report quality or compliance concerns to management and the quality function and take immediate actions to remedy.
    • Complete all planned or unplanned quality & compliance training requirements within defined deadlines

Job-Specific Duties may include:

  • Inventory Management:
    • Stockroom / POU management, dispensing of product, and direction / coordination of affiliated stockroom activities.
    • Perform on-site program replenishments and disbursements.
    • Perform stockroom duties to include receiving, put-away, stock rotation, cycle counts, and other functions according to customer requirements.
    • Remove cardboard and trash as needed (detrashing).
    • Deliver direct shipment orders to end users.
  • Sourcing/Order Management:
    • Perform order entry, order expediting, customer service call resolution, return goods authorization, processing of backorders.
    • Facilitate vendor and customer interaction, problem resolution, executing 3rd party & agent buys.
  • Chemical Management:
    • Receive, register and track all chemical containers throughout the facility.
    • Perform routine audits of chemical inventory database.
    • Provide chemical inventory reports upon request.
    • Distribute chemicals throughout facility and upon request.
    • Follow all safety guidelines related to the handling and movement of chemical containers.
  • Glassware Washing:
    • Daily pickup of dirty glassware from labs, wash and sterilize and redistribute to satellite storage areas.
    • Provide glass washing and sterilization services maintaining a constant supply of clean and sterile lab glass.
    • Maintain glass wash schedules and is flexible to handle emergencies.
    • Perform inspection of glassware for cracks, breaks, and scratches contacting the Supervisor/Manager/Team Lead with all pertinent information for replacement.
    • Maintain glass wash statistics as decided upon by Thermo Fisher Scientific and customer.
    • Maintain inventory of glassware in locations throughout the facility.
    • Maintain required supplies for glassware washing and sterilization operations.
    • Follow all GLP/GMP guidelines as required.
  • Shipping / Receiving:
    • Shipments, including packing of samples, dangerous goods and palletized freight, domestic and international
    • Receiving, unloading and processing of incoming freight, packages, and mail
    • Deliver inbound freight, packages and mail to various locations throughout site
    • Work with end-user to coordinate shipments and deliveries
    • Strong attention to detail in safety protocols
  • Surplus Asset Management
    • Receipt of incoming surplus assets at the site, including, but not limited to, lab consumables, lab equipment, office supplies, office equipment, furniture, glassware, plastic ware, etc.
    • Inventory of items adhering to customer's requirements
    • Stage and organize assets for storage until disposition
    • Sort and dispose of trash through proper channels
    • Schedule internal and external client appointments
    • Maintain an accurate inventory of surplus items
    • Perform inspection of received in inventory for damage or rust
    • Facilitate the redeployment, donation, sale, and salvage of assets
Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:
    Must be able to read, write and speak English fluently.Displays a high level of confidentiality for both customer and Fisher.Must maintain Thermo Fisher Scientific's Four-I Values.Experience in laboratory setting or services preferred; experience in GLP/GMP environment a plus.Must possess a High School Diploma.

    Must possess a strong desire to serve the customer, and the interpersonal skills to deal with various levels of personnel at the customer site.Must possess strong communication skills and customer focus to deliver excellent customer service including maintaining a professional appearance at all times.Must possess the operating skills to use hand held scanners and learn to enter data in various systems as necessary. Must possess strong analytical skills to reconcile various reports to ensure customer requirements are met.Must possess the organizational skills to multi-task and meet deadlines as needed.Must be able to use a computer and possess intermediate skills in Microsoft Office suite of software.
