1. Introduction to SRIS
The 2nd Symposium for Chang'an Young Scholars is to be held by Chang'an University from November 15th to 18th, 2017 in Xi'an Shaanxi. Through forms of special reports, academic discussions and visits, this symposium aims to build a platform for distinguished young scholars from home and abroad to exchange views on hot issues in the forefront of international scholarly community, thus promoting academic communication and cooperation, deepening young scholars’ understanding of Shaanxi and Chang'an University and attracting outstanding young scholars to join in Chang'an University.
The 2nd Symposium for Chang'an Young Scholars is the key Parallel Session of the Shaanxi Silk Road International Symposium (SRIS) for Distinguished Young Scholars which is held by Shaanxi Provincial Party Committee and Provincial Government. Under the guide of the strategy of reinvigorating China through human resource development and the idea of "gathering personnel with outstanding capabilities from all over the world and making full use of them" put forward by President Xi Jinping, SRIS stands on the practical demands of Shaanxi in building an innovative province, attracts young talents from all over the world to Shaanxi and to bring innovation and start up businesses so as to provide human resource support for the building and development of the Silk Road Economic Belt. As the host of the key Parallel Session, Chang'an University would like to provide a platform for all the participants to understand its development strategies, personnel training,talents recruitment schemes and scientific researches through communication and collaboration between it and the invited scholars.
2. Introduction to Chang'an University
Directly affiliated to the Ministry of Education of the People's Republic of China, Chang'an University is one of the State "211 Project" key development universities jointly run by the Ministry of Education, Ministry of Transport, Ministry of Land Resources, Ministry of Housing and Urban Rural Construction and Shaanxi Provincial Government. It is concurrently one of the key development universities on the State "985" Project advantage discipline innovation platform. The university was officially established in the year 2000 by merging the former Xi'an Highway University, Xi'an Engineering Institute and Northwest Institute of Construction Engineering, which were founded in the early 1950s. Chang'an University is located in the historical and cultural city of Xi'an and covers an area of more than 3, 745mu (approximately 250 hectares). The university comprises two teaching campuses and two practice bases. Through its 60 years of development, it has evolved into an influential comprehensive higher institution in China, with engineering as its main discipline focus, combining engineering with sciences, and with multidisciplinary development in economy, management and humanities. More than 250, 000 talents of different levels, mainly in the fields of highway transportation, land resources and environment and construction engineering have graduated from this university.

4. Application Requirements
1. Applicants should be well-conducted and have completed a Ph.D. degree. Applicants of natural science fields should be under the age of 40 (including 40) and applicants of arts and social sciences fields under 45 (including 45).
2. Applicants should also be dedicated to research, have strong innovation ability and great development potential, abide academic morality and professional ethics, have excellent academic potential, and possess the capability of promoting academic development or developing a discipline independently.
3. Applicants should have a broad academic vision and working or researching experience over 2 years. Applicants should have demonstrated outstanding academic accomplishments in a given field and be top-notch personnel among peers.
4. Applicants should be prominent in key fields of natural science, philosophy or social science, culture and art, have achieved professional achievements and social influence and won honorary titles.

Nov. 18th (Sat.) Visit the campus and laboratories, etc.
7. Other Information
SRIS charges no registration fees. Domestic and international travel expenses (economy class) will be reimbursed for each invited scholar.
Accommodation during the symposium and airport/railway station ground transportation will be provided.
