Assistant/Associate Scientist, Bell Center
The Marine Biological Laboratory (MBL) announces a search for an outstanding, innovative candidate to join The Eugene Bell Center for Regenerative Biology and Tissue Engineering at the MBL in Woods Hole, Massachusetts. Preference will be given to appointments at the Assistant Scientist rank, although exceptional candidates at the Associate Scientist level will also be considered.
The successful candidate is expected to develop an independent research program in one or more areas related to regenerative biology and/or tissue engineering. We seek to strengthen and expand beyond our current areas of expertise in the Bell Center, which include cell and developmental biology, neurobiology, comparative and evolutionary biology, and sensory physiology. We are particularly interested in candidates who can synergize with other existing and emerging MBL research and educational endeavors through use of marine and aquatic organisms, transcriptomics, genome editing, advanced imaging and computational biology. For more information, go to: http://www.mbl.edu/bell/
The individual hired for this position will have the opportunity to conduct research in a highly collaborative, interdisciplinary and dynamic environment.
The MBL fosters a rich intellectual environment that includes affiliations with the University of Chicago and Argonne National Laboratory, as well as a strong community of more than 100 affiliated scientists from academic institutions around the world. The collaborative research community enables the extension of highly simplified experimental systems to the greater complexities of evolutionary innovation and ecological function among diverse organisms and ecosystems.
Applicants must have a doctorate in biology, engineering or a related field, and a strong record of scientific research and publication. It is expected that the ideal candidate will be able to attract extramural funding to support an independent research program. Positions in the Bell Center are partially supported by dedicated endowment funds.
Special Instructions to Applicants:
Applicants should submit a full CV, cover letter, and statement of research interests and goals, and the names and contact information of at least four references.
