STUDY OF SDN-BASED CONTROL PANE SOLUTIONS FOR NEXT-GENERATION METROPOLITAN NETWORKS
Many operators of the metro networks are migrating their control plane from legacy technology to Software Defined Networking (SDN). The basic SDN control-plane architecture comprises one or more SDN controllers coordinated by an orchestrator to provide a network service. The aim of the research program is to investigate this issue with particular reference to new algorithms and procedures implementable in the orchestrator and allowing to optimize the network. The reference usecase in this project will be Enterprise Networking, i.e. the operator assigns on demand a network slice to a company that has to interconnect distant sites and headquarters.
