The Department of Biomedical Sciences of Western Michigan University Homer Stryker M.D. School of Medicine invites applications for a full-time faculty position at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor with primary responsibilities for medical student education in the basic sciences. Candidates with expertise in basic or applied human physiology, pathophysiology, cell and molecular physiology, or translational biomedical physiology will be considered. Qualified applicants must have a PhD or MD/PhD degree. The successful candidate will join an interdisciplinary team of biomedical science educators working to develop and deliver an integrated medical curriculum utilizing innovative approaches. Preference will be given to applicants with previous classroom teaching experience in graduate or medical education. Responsibilities will include serving as the course director of an integrated organ based foundational biomedical science course for second year medical students.
It is expected that faculty will be engaged in scholarly activities in areas such as medical education, curriculum design, or learner and curriculum assessment. Opportunities to train and guide medical students in basic research techniques is possible.
