Tenure-track Assistant Professor in Sensory Biology, Neuroscience
The Department of Zoology and Physiology in the College of Art and Sciences at the University of Wyoming invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position in Physiology at the rank of Assistant Professor. We seek an outstanding scientist who conducts mechanistic studies to address basic or translational questions in broadly defined sensory biology fields. We are interested in candidates whose research program aims at understanding sensory systems or utilizes a sensory system to gain insights into brain function and neuro-psychiatric disorders. Candidates with a variety of expertise including but not limited to cellular, molecular, genomic, physiological, and behavioral approaches will be considered, and special consideration will be given to candidates who use integrated approaches such as a combination of molecular, cellular, circuit and system level approaches. This position offers outstanding research resources associated with the newly established, federally funded Wyoming Sensory Biology Center of Biomedical Research Excellence (COBRE) in addition to a competitive salary and startup package. The candidate will be expected to develop a strong, extramurally funded research program that complements the expertise of our current faculty. The successful candidate is expected to utilize and strengthen the many core facilities at the University of Wyoming, including the newly funded Integrated Microscopy Core Facility, Red Buttes Environmental Biology Laboratory, and the Center for Advanced Scientific Imaging. The Department has an animal vivarium maintained by a full-time state funded staff and there are no per diem charges. The candidate is expected to teach an undergraduate course related to the Physiology major and a graduate course in their area of expertise. Candidates must have a doctoral degree, postdoctoral experience, and evidence of an exceptional research record.
