Assistant Professor of Biology
The Biology Department (http://www.gvsu.edu/biology/) at Grand Valley State University invites applications for a 9-month, tenure-track appointment at the assistant professor level to start in Fall 2018. An applicant should hold a Ph.D. in Aquatic Ecology or a related aquatic science field, and have a record of excellent teaching and scholarship. Postdoctoral experience, the ability to work in a collaborative interdisciplinary environment, and expertise in phycology/algal taxonomy are desired. Teaching responsibilities will include courses in Freshwater Algae and Limnology, along with other undergraduate and graduate courses in the applicant’s areas of expertise. Faculty members also advise undergraduate and graduate students; actively engage in scholarship and professional development; serve on academic committees; and participate in community engagement. The position includes a 25% joint appointment with Annis Water Resources Institute – a Great Lakes research field station (https://www.gvsu.edu/wri/).
