IMPREX: Assessing the operational value of medium weather forecast to hydropower and agriculture
Medium-term hydro-meteorological forecasts are key to inform integrated water resources management under climate change as they extend our anticipation capability and preparedness to extreme floods and droughts. The research will develop decisional models for integrated water resources management in multi-stakeholders/decision-makers contexts, particularly considering alpine hydropower systems and regulated lakes. The models developed will be employed to assess the economic and operational value of hydro-meteorological medium-term forecasts. The research will focus on developing real-time control system technologies for the daily operation of alpine dams under different hydro-meteorological forecasts. The developed methodologies will be demonstrated on the Lake Como, Italy.
