In spite of various attempts, there are no therapies to improve intellectual disability (ID) in Down syndrome (DS). The overall goal of this project is to establish whether it is possible to improve/rescue ID in DS with early pharmacological interventions. The specific aim of this project is to identify new molecules capable of restoring / improving brain development in the Ts65Dn model, with the ultimate aim of providing the clinical community with a series of potentially useful molecules for preventive therapy in Down syndrome patients. As neurogenis and neuronal maturation occur mainly during gestation and early postnatal periods (up to adolescence), the treatments will be performed in the perinatal period and will be examined short and long term efficacy
