Development of microfluidic devices for biomedical applications
The program consists of two main topics. The first concerns the design and development of microfluidic platforms for advanced organotypic cell culture to generate human physiological and pathological models.
This topic encompasses three main phases: 1) analysis of the scientific literature; 2) design and develop microfluidic platforms for advanced cell culture; 3) fabrication of the devices through microfabrication techniques, and their exploitation to generate relevant biological models in collaboration with scientific partners.
Second topic concerns the implementation of microfluidic platforms for the measurement of the platelet activation in human blood, aiming at the development of a point of care system.
