Research Support Officer (Software Programmer)
Applications are invited for a position of a Research Support Officer to conduct R&D on the Commercialisation Fund Project Making Laws and Regulations Smart using RegTech (SmaRT). The objective of the Governance Risk and Compliance Technology Centre (GRCTC) is to build a portfolio of innovative, applied research projects and outputs that address the significant challenges facing the Financial Industry in terms of Governance, Risk and Compliance. There is a growing realisation in the industry that semantic technologies offer the most viable solutions to many of these challenges. Hence, the GRCTC's research focus is on the development of a federation of GRC ontology and process models, Semantics of Business Vocabulary and Business Rules (SBVR)-based semantic repositories, and related information systems. These sematic knowledge bases, and process models will provide the foundation for GRC technology solutions to be developed by software enterprises, financial services organisations, technology and services vendors, content providers, and regulators— nationally and internationally.
The Governance Risk and Compliance Technology Centre (GRCTC) at University College Cork is one of Ireland's Technology Centres. The Technology Centres have been instituted by the Irish Government and are jointly funded by Enterprise Ireland and IDA Ireland. These centres are collaborative industry-led entities, whose mission is to undertake market-focused strategic R&D for the benefit of industry. The GRCTC is hosted by UCC's Department of Accounting, Finance, and Information Systems (AFIS) in the Cork University Business School (CUBS). The GRCTC is situated in the centre of Cork City and a short walk from the main University College Cork campus.
