The research team has developed an innovative GIS-based procedure to atmosphere monitoring, based on GNSS satellite positioning technology, able to locate particularly intense rainfall events. The candidate is required to extend the procedure, now applied in terms of post event analysis, to near real time monitoring by providing automatic acquisition and archiving of input data into a dedicated Geographic DataBase, by automating and optimizing the procedure and by realizing a prototype of GeoWebService service for sharing the results of the procedure, as a tool for nowcasting analysis of potential hazardous situations arising from intense rainfall.
