Assistant/Associate Professor – Structural Biology/Protein NMR

The Medical University of South Carolina and the NCI-designated Hollings Cancer Center seek applicants with expertise in protein NMR for an open position at the Assistant (tenure track) or Associate level. The University is initiating a major investment in the areas of NMR and cryo-EM that build upon its existing X-ray crystallography infrastructure/expertise and will coalesce into a comprehensive Structural Biology Program.  The successful candidate will have complete access to an outstanding NMR infrastructure that includes 400, 600, and 850 MHz spectrometers and will be expected to play a leading role in the development of a vibrant protein NMR program that ideally synergizes with the excellent drug discovery infrastructure available at MUSC.  The successful candidate will be an expert in the methodology and application of protein NMR, and use protein NMR along with biochemical/biophysical approaches to gain insights into the macromolecular machinery underlying fundamental biological processes related to cancer. 

The research interests of HCC faculty focus on mechanisms of signal transduction, transcription, RNA biogenesis and processing, protein folding and degradation, lipid biogenesis and trafficking, cell signaling, DNA repair, chromatin dynamics, cell-cell communication, tumor immunity, and cell division.

We seek candidates that have demonstrated excellence, originality and productivity in research. The successful candidate will have a Ph.D. or equivalent degree and postdoctoral experience in biochemistry/biophysics and structural biology.  Tenure track candidates are expected to develop a well-funded, high impact research program.  Applicants at the level of Associate Professor are expected to have an established extramurally funded research program along with a robust publication record.
