LIST is looking for an experienced engineer to perform a key role and actively contribute to the research and technological activities of the ITIS Department.

The mission and the activities are associated with the needs for the department as for development of prototypes and software demonstrators allowing the use of search results levels of TRL 5-6 based on real use. The prototypes will allow to verify and to validate the relevance of the results proposed through software tools usable by external users.


The experienced engineer works closely with the Project Manager and the Development Team to deliver high-quality software prototypes.

The successful candidate is expected to:

  • Analyze existing information systems (IS), their costs and benefits

  • Analyze organizational structures, business / work processes (work flows), data flows, and human-human / human-machine interactions

  • Participate in the development and drive the enhancement of architectures

  • Define and develop user experiences (UX) and user interfaces (UI)

  • Design and create user ergonomics, graphical layout, and contents compliant with standards (e.g. W3C); present, advocate, and enforce the use of standards

  • Enforce methodological and quality aspects during development life cycles by encouraging the use of Agile-driven processes and quality reviews

  • Master degree in computer science with a focus of software engineering / or equivalent professional experience

  • Minimum 10 years of IT professional experience

  • Strong experience in development architecture models and implementation

  • Proven experience with quality procedures and project management

  • Strong experience in the realization of proof-of-concept studies

  • In-depth knowledge of Web-distributed system architectures

  • Strong capacity in writing and presenting studies and their results

  • Ability to cope with fast changing technologies used in graphical design

  • Knowledge of ergonomics regarding human / machine interaction and interfaces

  • Proven ability to design and operate User eXperience (UX) principles in products

  • Knowledge of Web technologies and standards (e.g. HTML, XML)

  • Rapid self-starting capability and experience in team working and Agile animation

  • Total mastery of CSS (CSS 2/3), technical expertise in CSS compilers (SASS and LESS), template languages (e.g. HandleBar, Mustache, eJS), and Web Design principles, rules, and frameworks (e.g. BootStrap, Grid960) are mandatory

  • Sound development skills (in JS / nodeJS) and graphical tools use are required

  • Good collaboration and communication skills

  • Capability to work in an international / multicultural environment

  • Fluency in English and French is required
