Biomedical applications of plasma technologies
The activity will be devoted to the development of technologies for the generation of plasma and plasma reactors for biological applications and for the superficial modification of biocompatible materials.
Such types of materials for medical and food use must exhibit certain surface properties such as biocompatibility, sterility, high degree of wettability, and often biodegradability. The LIMP research group, a DEI-UniBO lab, is conducting surface treatment of biopolymers for biodegradable prostheses, treatment of cancerous tissues and treatment of materials with bacteria, parasites, molds and fungi. In this context, the holder of the fellowship will continue the activity by testing the action of plasma on different types of bio and non-organic materials. The effect of direct and indirect treatments (afterglow) will also be evaluated.
The activity will be mainly experimental.
