PHYSICIAN-SCIENTISTS in Pathology
PHYSICIAN-SCIENTISTS (up to 2 positions) ASSISTANT, ASSOCIATE OR FULL PROFESSOR (Medical Center Line or University Tenure Line Professoriate)
Stanford Medicine is committed to the vision of precision health to lead the biomedical revolution. The Stanford Department of Pathology is undergoing a major expansion in both research and clinical faculty as we embrace this vision. Here, we announce our intent to recruit two outstanding physician-scientists with major focus in basic or translational biomedical research, and subspecialty service in anatomic, clinical, or molecular pathology. The Stanford Department of Pathology works closely with our colleagues in Stanford Health Care, Stanford Children’s Health, and Stanford University School of Medicine. We seek ambitious colleagues who are enthusiastic about our vision and are committed to our collaborative approach. Based on qualifications, candidates may be hired in all ranks of the University Tenure Line (UTL) or Medical Center Line (MCL).
The major criteria for appointment for faculty in the MCL are excellence in the overall mix of clinical care, clinical teaching, and scholarly activity that advances clinical medicine. The predominant criterion for appointment in the University Tenure Line is a major commitment to research and teaching, although often combined with clinical responsibilities. Appointment in either of these lines is available based on the applicant’s qualifications and career goals.
Successful candidates will join the faculty in the Department of Pathology, which currently includes a Nobel Prize winner, multiple members of the National Academies of Sciences and Medicine, and many other investigators with national and international distinction. In addition to its outstanding research program, the Department of Pathology is responsible for over 3.4 million laboratory tests and 50,000 anatomic pathology specimens annually, with major expansions in out-patient and in-patient care scheduled for 2018 and 2019. Our department attracts and trains outstanding graduate students, residents, and fellows.
Candidates must have an MD or MD/PhD and be board certified in Anatomic Pathology, Clinical Pathology, or both. The position requires holding or obtaining a license to practice medicine in the State of California. Completion of subspecialty fellowship training or comparable experience is desirable.
Applicants should submit your curriculum vitae, as well as a brief description of research accomplishments and plans for future scholarly work. These, with the names of five references (all documents in one pdf file), should be sent to Ms. Cynthia Llanes, at firstname.lastname@example.org by November 30, 2017.
Stanford University is an equal opportunity employer and is committed to increasing the diversity of its faculty. It welcomes nominations of and applications from women, members of minority groups, protected veterans and individuals with disabilities, as well as from others who would bring additional dimensions to the university’s research, teaching and clinical missions.
