CREATE-NET (Center for REsearch And Telecommunication Experimentation for NETworked communities) has the objective of combining high-level research in the computer networks and telecommunications sectors with innovative experimental field work.


One of CREATE-NET's main goal is to continue increasing the internal focus on research & innovation, leveraging on the developed know-how to stimulate the transfer of new technologies to the market.


 


Within CREATE-NET the focus of Open IOT Unit is to lead research, development and  experimentation on cutting-edge infrastructures, technologies and platforms for the Internet of Things to support the creation of innovative and interoperable IoT-based solutions.

Job Description


 


CREATE-NET is seeking a highly motivated Software Developer willing to join a dynamic interdisciplinary research group to work in close collaboration with a team of skilled software developers in the development and integration of cloud/fog solutions for the Internet of Things.


 


Focus of activities will be on the realization of innovative experimental software solutions for IoT gateways and the cloud, through the development and integration of state-of-the-art software technologies for IoT spanning from embedded to cloud solutions.


 


Successful candidates must be highly self-motivated individuals, who seek to establish a dynamic and creative team environment combining modern creative and innovative approaches.


 


Required:


 


Bachelor Degree;


Knowledge of the following programming languages: Java, Javascript, GoLang


Fundamental understanding of SOA architectures and RESTFul web-services;


Proficient with Linux and Docker technologies;


Experience in prototyping and development of embedded IoT solutions with open hardware, open software solutions (like: Arduino, Raspberry Pi and similar platforms);


Good knowledge and understanding of main IoT communication protocols like: BLE, MQTT, CoAP, among others;


Good knowledge of main implementations of relational and noSQL databases;


Autonomous thinking and problem solving skills;


Teamwork approach, good communication and relational skills;


Oral and written fluency in English.


 


Preferred:


 


Master degree;


Multi-year experience in software development, with special focus on web-based solutions;


Knowledge of additional programming languages: RUST, PHP, Python;


Experience in developing multi-tenant SaaS;


Knoweldge of server-less architectures;


Spring Framework and Spring Cloud;


Unit Testing;


Familiarity with ElasticSearch, Logstash and Kibana;


Javascript frontend (for example one of React, Aurelia, Vue, Angular);


Love to learn new technology;


Technical project management expertise;


Prioritization, time management skills and capability to adapt to dynamic environments.
