Fort Collins, Colorado

9 Month salaried appointment with full benefits

Position: The Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology seeks applicants for a tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor level.  Applications will be considered from individuals with a strong background and research interest in studying molecular and cellular processes related to neuronal function. The Department has outstanding research programs in areas of molecular, cellular, and structural biology, with a strong core group studying the molecular mechanisms of cellular functions ranging from transcription to cell division. The position is part of a strategic plan designed to further strengthen and expand these areas of excellence, as well as to enhance our interactions within the interdisciplinary program in Molecular, Cellular and Integrative Neurosciences.  The research program of strong candidates should complement our current strengths with broad consideration given to the research tools and systems being used.

Responsibilities: The successful hire is expected to develop or maintain an internationally recognized externally-funded research program with a neurobiology focus, participate in undergraduate and graduate education, and to provide service through Departmental, College, and University committees, as well as external review panels. The position requires a firm commitment to undergraduate and graduate education.

Qualifications: Applicants must hold a doctoral degree in an appropriate field. Candidates must have postdoctoral experience, a strong record of publications, and evidence of expertise in the broad areas defined above, as demonstrated in part by submission of a future research plan that will be competitive for external funding. Candidates should demonstrate an ability to advance the Department’s commitment to diversity and inclusion through research, teaching and outreach with relevant programs, goals and activities.

Employment Conditions: This is a nine-month, tenure-track, academic appointment.  Salary will be commensurate with qualifications. Funds are available to provide an appropriate start-up package.  The anticipated start date is August 16, 2018.

APPLICATION PROCEDURES: Applicants should upload by October 15, 2017 at http://jobs.colostate.edu/postings/49432, a cover letter, curriculum vitae, statement of research accomplishments and future plans, a statement of teaching interests and philosophy, and the name and contact information for 3 individuals qualified to assess the candidates’ ability to fulfill the responsibilities of the position. Letters of recommendation will be requested via email from referees upon submission of an application and must be submitted on-line. Letters must be received by October 22, 2017 for full consideration. For further information regarding this position, consult the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology website (http://www.bmb.colostate.edu/) or email: Kristen.DeQuasie@colostate.edu.

Applications will be accepted until the position is filled. The search committee will identify a pool of semifinalist candidates from the qualified applicant pool. Application materials of semifinalist candidates, including letters of recommendation, will be made available for review and discussion by the faculties of the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology and the Molecular, Cellular and Integrative Neuroscience Program.

Workplace Relationships: All faculty are expected to work for the common good of the department and related programs, the college, and the university. Teamwork is critical for success on the job, and faculty must be able to maintain relationships with students, colleagues, and other constituents that are based on professionalism and mutual respect. Colorado State University is committed to providing a safe and productive learning and living community. To achieve that goal, we conduct background investigations for all final candidates being considered for employment. Background checks may include, but are not limited to, criminal history, national sex offender search and motor vehicle history.
