The Joint Department of Biomedical Engineering at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and North Carolina State University is a rapidly growing enterprise which is one of the fastest growing areas of study, research, and employment in the State of North Carolina.  We are moving into new space on campus and expanding our faculty and class offerings.  The department is currently looking to fill the position of Assistant Professor in the research area of Pharmacoengineering.  Pharmacoengineering describes the science behind the development of materials and technologies to improve the delivery of therapeutic and diagnostic agents. It encompasses the fields of materials, nanotechnology, molecular pharmaceutics, biomedical engineering, medical device development, and biomedical imaging aimed towards therapeutics.   Pharmacoengineering is a collaborative effort with the Eshleman School of Pharmacy.

A qualified candidate will be able to contribute to teaching in the undergraduate and graduate educational programs, and will have already developed or will demonstrate potential to develop an extramurally funded research program.  Investigators will collaborate with other clinical and basic science faculty both within BME and across other departments at both UNC and NC State, including the Hospital and Veterinary School, as well as the Eshelman School of Pharmacy.  Primary research space for this position will be located at UNC Chapel Hill.        

Qualified candidates should have a doctoral degree in biomedical engineering or a similarly equivalent area, and have demonstrated excellent capability for scholarly activity during post-doctoral research.
