The research program is focused on the development of efficient algorithms devoted to the solution to nonconvex polynomial optimization problems arising from system identification and control design.
More specifically the research program will address the following issues:
1. Development of a convex relaxation approach to the problem of enforcing structural and stability constraints in identification;
2. Development of relaxation-based algorithms for the design of robust controller;
3. Development of customized interior-point algorithms for solving efficiently the semi-definite optimization problems arising from system identification/controller design problems;
4. Application of the derived relaxation-based approaches/algorithms to the real-world problems in the automotive field.
