Infections caused by Candida Albicans and Aspergillus are still a problem for human health, particularly in immunodepressive subjects. New therapeutic drugs are based on the development of mAbs against antigens of these microorganisms and among them we find the murine 2G8 mAb that is directed against β-1,3-glucan. Humanization processes of VH and VL murine regions are necessary to reduce or eliminate immunogenicity. Also, the production of antibody fragments able to maintain binding activity allowed to overcome other limitations to the use of full-length, such as high half-life in bloodstream and limited penetration into tumor masses. The most advanced antibody fragments are scFv and diabody, antibodies of 25-50 KDa, constituted by VH and VL regions joined by a linker peptide.
