The interest in additive manufacturing technologies is strongly growing, both scientifically and economically. Despite the potential of additive technologies highlighted in the literature, there are some limitations related to geometric modeling and design software tools. These limitations make impossible to fully exploit the peculiar features of these technologies.
The main purpose of this project is to study and develop geometric modeling and design tools and methods dedicated to additive manufacturing technologies, able to model organic objects such as cellular solids with high geometric complexity. In addition, aim of the research is to identify methodologies that allow the point-to-point definition of the object materials, obtaining design specifications from functional optimization processes.
